الموائع والحرارة 1 (Thermo-Fluid 1)
The purpose of this laboratory is to reinforce and enhance the understanding of the fundamentals of fluid mechanics and heat transfer learned in Thermal-Fluids I. In this laboratory, the students will perform experiments related to the Thermodynamics, Fluids Mechanics, Heat Transfer and the applied part of the above subjects. The experiments are relatively simple; they are designed to demonstrate the applications of the basic fluid and thermal science principles and to provide a more intuitive and physical understanding of these disciplines.
The laboratory is well-equipped with a variety of equipment and experimental setups for studying fluid mechanics' basics and applications. The setup includes devices such as verification of Bernoulli’s Theorem, impact of jet on vane, hydraulic ram, pressure and temperature measuring devices, among others.
In this laboratory, students will have the opportunity to study the working principle of IC engines (both SI and CI engines), performance and characteristics in terms of heat balancing, economical speed variations, air fuel ratio influence on the engine to reinforce classroom theory by having the student perform required tests, analyze subsequent data, and present the results in a professionally prepared report. The machines and equipment used to determine experimental data include cut models of 4stroke diesel engine, 2stroke petrol engine, 4stroke and two stroke petrol engines with required specifications, Multi cylinder SI engine, Single cylinder Diesel engine for performance and speed test which is suitable to tests on variable compression ratios
